Terms of Service

Last updated 28 September 2026

1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Garterly ("Garterly", "we", "us"). They apply to garterly.com and the Garterly app (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

Our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy form part of these terms.

2. Your account

You must be 18 or over to create an account. Each account is for one person. Keep your password private and tell us straight away at hello@garterly.com if you think someone else has used your account. You're responsible for what happens in your account.

3. Weddings, partners and planners

  • A wedding is created by one partner, who can invite the other partner and wedding planners.
  • Both partners can see and edit the whole wedding. The couple decides which areas each planner can see or edit, and can change or remove that access at any time.
  • Anything added to a wedding can be seen by everyone who has access to that part of it. Only invite people you trust.
  • A planner's access depends on the couple's permission. If the couple removes a planner, the planner loses access to that wedding.

4. Free trial

Each wedding gets a free 14-day trial of every feature, starting when the wedding is created. No card is needed. When the trial ends, the wedding becomes read-only: nothing is deleted, and you can still view and export everything.

5. Wedding Pass

  • A Wedding Pass is a one-off payment, not a subscription. One pass covers one wedding, including both partners, any planners the couple invites, and every feature.
  • Either partner can buy it. The pass belongs to the wedding, not the person who paid, and can't be moved to another wedding.
  • Access lasts until the later of 24 months after purchase and 3 months after your wedding date, and no longer than 36 months after purchase. It's worked out from the wedding date saved in Garterly, so it updates if you change your date, within that 36-month limit.
  • A 12-month extension adds 12 months to the end of your access, or runs 12 months from purchase if your access has already ended. You can buy more than one.
  • When access ends, the wedding becomes read-only. You can still view and export everything, and you can buy an extension to keep editing.
  • Our first 200 paying couples pay a lower founding price. After that, the standard price applies. The price you pay is the one shown at checkout.

6. Prices, tax and payment

  • Prices are shown on our pricing page and at checkout. Australian prices include GST. Elsewhere, taxes such as VAT or sales tax may be added, and checkout shows the final amount before you pay.
  • Payments are handled by Stripe. Stripe's Link service acts as merchant of record for your payment and collects any tax due: checkout says "Sold through Link", your receipt comes from Link, and your card statement shows LINK.COM followed by our name. We provide the Service and are responsible for it.
  • We may change our prices. A change never affects a pass you've already bought.

7. Planners

The first wedding a planner joins on Garterly is free for as long as that wedding is on Garterly. If we introduce paid planner plans, we'll show the price, what's included, how often you'll be charged and how to cancel before you subscribe. Paid plans renew automatically until cancelled, and cancelling stops future charges.

8. Refunds

Our Refund Policy explains when you can get a refund. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or other consumer laws that apply to you.

9. Your content

  • Your content is everything you add to Garterly: wedding details, budgets, payments, gifts, guests, seating, tasks, schedules, notes, photos and links.
  • You own your content. You let us store, copy, display and process it only to run, secure and improve the Service for you and the people you share it with. This permission ends when your content is deleted, apart from copies we must keep by law or that are in backups waiting to be overwritten.
  • Only add content you have the right to add. When you add other people's details, such as guests' names, contact details or dietary requirements, add only what you need to plan your wedding. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle it.
  • Mood boards show content from Pinterest boards you link. That content belongs to its owners and Pinterest's terms apply to it.

10. Fair use

Please don't:

  • break the law or anyone else's rights;
  • try to reach accounts, weddings or data you haven't been given access to;
  • upload malicious code, or probe, test or overload the Service (security researchers: please report issues to hello@garterly.com);
  • scrape the Service or access it with automated tools;
  • resell or rent access to Garterly;
  • use Garterly to send spam or to harass anyone.

11. Exports and your own records

You can export your wedding to PDF and Excel at any time, including while it's read-only. We back up our systems, but Garterly isn't a place to keep the only copy of important documents. Keep your own copies of contracts, receipts and anything else you can't replace.

12. Availability and changes to the Service

We work hard to keep Garterly available and your data safe, but we can't promise the Service will always be available or free of errors. We may change or improve features. If a change significantly reduces what an active Wedding Pass includes, we'll email you first, and you can ask for a refund of the unused part of your pass.

13. Closing accounts

  • You can delete a wedding (Settings, Danger Zone) or your account (Account) at any time. Deleting a wedding permanently removes it for everyone on it. Deleting doesn't by itself give a refund; our Refund Policy and the law explain when you can get one.
  • We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or where we need to protect the Service, other users or comply with the law. Unless that would be unsafe or unlawful, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to export your wedding. If we close your account when you haven't broken these terms, we'll refund the unused part of any pass.

14. After access ends

A wedding stays read-only for 12 months after its trial or pass ends. If nobody buys a pass or extension in that time, we'll email the partners at least 30 days before we delete it.

15. Our responsibility to you

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled to cancel your service contract with us, and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to choose a refund or compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If the failure does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have problems with the service rectified in a reasonable time and, if this is not done, to cancel your contract and obtain a refund for the unused portion of the contract.

Garterly is a planning tool. It doesn't give financial, legal or tax advice, and its figures depend on what you enter.

To the extent the law allows, we aren't responsible for:

  • loss that isn't a reasonably foreseeable result of something we did wrong;
  • loss caused by you, by people you've given access to, by vendors, or by third-party services such as Pinterest;
  • decisions you make using the Service, such as what or when to pay a vendor.

Where the law lets us limit our liability, it's limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For significant changes, we'll email account holders at least 30 days before they apply. If you keep using Garterly after that, the new terms apply. If you don't accept them, you can stop using Garterly, and if a change significantly disadvantages you, you can ask for a refund of the unused part of your pass.

17. General

  • These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and disputes go to its courts. If you live outside Australia, you keep any consumer protections that the law where you live gives you.
  • If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
