Questions
Good to know.
How far ahead should we start planning?
Twelve months or more gives you the widest choice of venues and vendors, which often book out first. Less time works too: the checklist marks any month you're behind on, and Garterly builds a catch-up plan.
What should be on a wedding checklist?
The budget and guest list first, then the venue and the vendors who book out early, then outfits, stationery and the legal paperwork, and final numbers and payments in the last month. This one has 50 tasks, from the budget to the thank-you cards.
We're planning a wedding in six months or less. Will it work?
Enter your date and the checklist marks the months you're behind on. Save it to Garterly and the overdue tasks move into a catch-up plan, highest priority first, each with a new due date.
What legal paperwork do we need?
It depends where you marry. In Australia you lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage with your celebrant at least one month before. In England and Wales you give notice at the register office at least 28 days before. In the US you apply for a marriage license, and the rules vary by state. Choose your country above and the right step is added.
Is the checklist free?
Yes. Use it here and print it without an account. Saving it to Garterly adds due dates, owners, status and a catch-up plan, and starts a free 14-day trial with no card needed.
Can we change the tasks?
In Garterly, yes. Add your own, edit or delete any task, move any date and assign each one to whoever is doing it.
